Clinton Arthur Williford, III, age 57, passed away peacefully, after a long battle with a rare blood cancer, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Duke University Hospital of Durham, NC.
Clint was born on September 29, 1962 to Clinton and Nina Gayle Smith Williford in Charleston, SC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother and loved his family very much. Clint retired from serving his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. He was a dedicated marine, Gulf War veteran, and was awarded numerous awards during his active duty. Upon retirement he drove trucks for a period of time then became a corrections officer with Bertie Correctional Institution where he was currently employed. Clint was a gentle giant that loved his girls dearly, Cathy and Gracie Len. He loved to ride his bike. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Gayle Smith Williford. Clint was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Clint is survived by his wife Cathy, his son, Clinton “Clint” Arthur Williford, IV and special friend, Tammy White, granddaughter, Gracie Len Williford, all of Aulander; his father Clinton Arthur Williford, Jr. of Roxobel; two sisters, Carolyn Jewel Ellis of Roxobel, and Paulette Gayle Hoggard of Greenville, NC; along with numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Jr. and Rhonda Lilley officiating. Burial will follow in Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery, Roxobel, NC with military honors.
